Grant J. Rich is a psychologist, scholar, and professor at Walden University [1]. He is best known as an authority on international and cultural psychology, and has authored/edited ten books, and over 150 journal articles and book chapters, many on this topic [2].

Early Life and Education[edit]

Dr. Rich graduated from Oberlin College and received his PhD in psychology at the University of Chicago [3]. At Chicago he was a student of the famed social psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi known for his work in positive psychology and on flow, a peak experience motivational state associated with creativity and well-being.

Career[edit]

Dr. Rich has served as President of APA's Society for Media Psychology and Technology [4] and co-edited the Handbook of Media Psychology [5] . Dr. Rich received the 2023 Frances Mullen Award for Distinguished Contributions to International Psychology (ICP: International Council of Psychologists) [6]. He twice received a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship [2] focusing on research in the Maya Worlds and the Tropical Atlantic and he is listed in Marquis Who's Who in America for his accomplishments [3]. Dr. Rich is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (APA) [7] and a Fellow of the Association for Psychological Science (APS) [8] [1] . He has lived and taught in Alaska, Cambodia, and India [2], and has served on the Board of the International Council of Psychology Educators (ICOPE) [9]. Dr. Rich was a candidate for APA President in 2024 [10]; the APA (American Psychological Association) is the largest organization of psychologists in the USA with over 145,000 members [11].
