Zimbabwe Forex Blitz is an ongoing operation launched by central bank governor against the parallel market in an effort to stabilize the Zimbabwe Gold. It was launched in April 2024, with 65 illegal traders being arrested on the first day.[1]

Background[edit]

Zimbabwe Gold was announced on 5 April 2024 as the successor of now defunct, Zimbabwean Dollar. The Zimbabwean Dollar lost 50% value in a two day trading, opening at around 22,000.00 per greenback on 4 April and closing at roughly 34,000 per buck April 5.
