| Description |
English: Lanchester 32 h.p. 4½ litre straight-eight. Lanchester was a British car company that built automobiles from 1895-1955, although it was sold to Daimler in 1931. The Lanchesters until 1930 were of a quality to compete with Rolls Royce. After 1930 they were lower priced Daimlers. But some customers wanted their Daimler branded Lanchester. This particular car was one of six Daimler straight-eights fitted with a Lanchester radiator shell (this 32 h.p. 4½ litre straight-eight was to the special order of Maharajah Digvijaysinhji) and in this case fitted with a tourer body by Vanden Plas. The other five cars were to the order of the Duke of York later King George VI |
