Summary

Description
English: A rock relief carved on the cliff of Mnt. Harir (also called Hareer, Batas-Hareer, or Patas-Harir relief), Erbil Governorate, Iraqi Kurdistan. It depicts a standing man looking to the right, wearing a hat, raising his right arm, and holding a long spare in his left arm. Framed. Probably, this was a local Parthian ruler, 1st century CE. Or, it might have commemorated the victory of a Median king over the Assyrian army. Some think that this is King Izates II or III (of Adiabene), and the relief dates back the relief to the 1st century CE. Recently, it has been suggested that this man is very probably Abdissares, king of Adiabene, 2nd century BCE. The relief has undergone extensive and continuous mutilation and vandalism by locals. Note the innumerable bullet marks.
