English: A Tank engine suffices to bring the Merchant Venturer into Bristol Temple Meads on its first stage from Weston-super-Mare.
View southwards from the end of No. 6 Up platform, towards (to the right) Weston, Taunton and Exeter; ex-Great Western main line. A 'Castle' 4-6-0 will take over for the dash up to Paddington; appropriately, the headboard is already carried by BR Standard 3MT 2-6-2T No. 82040. The train is coming under the Bath Road Bridge and to the left can be glimpsed Bath Road Locomotive Depot. It was a great place to watch trains.
