English: An attractive map 1829 map of Barbary Coast by the French cartographers Pierre and Alexander Lapie. Depicts the western Mediterranean and the northwestern part of Africa from Morocco to Benghazi. Exhibits the typical detail and scientific precision of Lapie maps. Notes caravan routes across the Sahara, topographical features, Oases, and desert Kingdoms. Includes the Kingdoms of Morocco, Tunisia, Alger, Fezzan and Tripoli. Also includes the Balearic Isles and parts of Spain, Italy and Greece. Longitude measured from the Paris meridian. Prepared as plate no. 41 for the 1829 issue of Lapie’s Atlas Universel de Geographie Ancienne et Moderne.
